I am known as Mari. I am a story teller.
My love for visual design is fueled by tea, gaming, Japanese culture, and most importantly passion for the visual arts (especially packaging!)
I have been fortunate enough to work with DBI Beverage and to design banners for marketing pertaining to the food and entertainment industry. I have also worked closely with DURACELL’s North America’s rebranding for lighting products and Jiawei Technology’s Smart Home products and with their marketing manager for U.S.
Due to COVID-19, I am blessed to be sub-contracted for projects and I am currently looking for a permanent position that suits what I am passionate about. I am in situation where I am ready to enter the industry again.
Currently, in my off time, I run a small business Hello x Mari, tailored to a very specific audience where I take on commissions, contracts, and design personalized art custom pieces — embroidery, sewing, and illustration. I embroider jewelry pieces and hand sew each one for fun. I 3D print some of these custom designs as well where I utilize my graphic design skills so it comes to life in its tangible form. Due to my constant research and reputation within this niche market, I always sell out of my unique one-of-a-kind pieces. Due to my experience as a graphic designer, (and part-time marketer), my small business has flourished although my love for design remains.
I am in this field simply because I do not see it as one. I am ambitious, yet playful, because I believe in not working harder, but working smarter. I believe integrity and social connections are crucial to infinite learning. I am also a team player that not only listens, but understands others' conceptual ideas. I enjoy collaborating with others to offer solutions when it comes to design.
If I do not know the answer, I will help find it for you to tell your story.
